Score 89/100 · Drink 2025-2035, Neal Martin, Oct 2025

The 2021 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a scent of French patisserie on the nose, with blanched almond and vanilla pod, later dominated by orange blossom. The palate is balanced with a lightly spiced entry but overall is missing some complexity that one seeks in a Corton-Charlemagne, though it is redeemed by an attractive waxy texture. There is just a dab of ginger that enlivens the finish, but it doesn't quite take off and becomes a little cloying with time. Certainly not up to the standard of the 2020 or 2022. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
