Tasting notes
The 1999 Vecina is now fully mature. There is enough depth to support at least a few more years of drinking, but the 1999 is a wine whose time has come. Dried flowers, mint, sweet tobacco and licorice add complexity throughout, but the 1999 has begun to fray at the edges. Any remaining bottles are best finished off.

Bright ruby-red. Musky scents of black cherry, herbs and mocha. Nicely dense but not a sweet style, with its red and darker fruit flavors complicated by herb and earth notes. This savory vintage of Vecina, made from vines planted in 1990, finishes with substantial dusty but essentially resolved tannins and very good length.
The 1999 Vecina, a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon offering, exhibits aromas of graphite, tar, coffee, and creme de cassis. It is more austere and less charming and seductive than the 1999 "S". This powerful, muscular Cabernet will be at its best between 2006-2020. (Release date 4/03) Tel. 707.944.9445, Fax. 707.944.9554, Email info@bondestates.com
(like the Melbury, this is from 100% cabernet sauvignon planted in 1990) Ruby-red. Explosive, wild nose combines roasted red berries, grilled meat, tar, brown sugar, mocha and truffle. Dense but juicy, with more power and thrust than the '99 Melbury but not quite the same early appeal. Intriguing notes of smoke, herbs and truffle. Finishes with very smooth, fine tannins.
