The deep garnet-purple colored 2016 De Malleret offers notes of black plums, Morello cherries and warm blackcurrants with touches of cigar box, charcoal and wild sage. Medium-bodied with a rugged, chewy texture, it has a good amount of uncomplicated black fruit and an herbal lift on the finish.
A terrific Haut-Médoc, the 2016 Château de Malleret is a medium-bodied, balanced, pure (the hallmark of the vintage) 2016 that offers plenty of dark fruits, graphite, earth, and a hint of chocolate. It has good acidity and balance and should easily keep for 10-15 years.
Attractive meaty and spicy nuances on the nose with a ripe array of red and purple berries. The palate has a very plush, long and juicy feel with plenty of rich and silky, dark fruit, dusted in cocoa powder at the finish. Try from 2022.
