2020 Barolo Massara

Verduno. Very pale ruby. Hints of stone and dark earth over raspberry fruit. A suggestion of cinnamon, too. Fluid and juicy with fine supporting tannins. Attractive cool fruit on the finish. (WS)

Verduno. Palish ruby. Balsamic raspberry nose with hidden depths that need lots of aeration to show themselves. Juicy, elegant raspberry fruit with a nice bite of finely ground tannins on the finish that comes with a hint of mint. (WS)

Just bottled, the 2020 Barolo Massara possesses good energy and cut, with very dark cherry, plum, lavender and rose petal. This is a relatively easygoing Massara, but all the elements are nicely balanced. Crushed red berry fruit and gentle tannins guide the palate. This can but quite powerful in some years, but the 2020 is very much on the softer side.
