Tasting notes
Serralunga d’Alba. Concentrated mid ruby with orange tinges. Spice, stalks and saline notes hovering over brooding fruit. Supple, fluid fruit on the palate on a layer of chewy tannins that end a tiny bit astringent but the fruit persists. Needs much more time. (WS)

Intensely spiced and enveloping in the glass, the 2021 Barolo Cerretta pours a more saturated, youthful red color and lifts with aromas of medicinal herbs, menthol, orange peel, white pepper, and cranberries. The palate is resonant with elegant, fresh red fruit, ripe tannins, and a gracefully long finish that tapers to savory and pleasant notes of apricot and leather on the back palate. This highly appealing wine will continue to improve and drink well over the next 15-20 years.
Drying and a bit lacking in fruit now. (JR)
The 2021 Barolo Cerretta is another of the more potent wines in this range. Ample and resonant, with terrific depth, the 2021 is substantial. It is also a very young Barolo that needs time to unwind. Dark-toned fruit, incense, leather, spice and tobacco add to an impression of gravitas.
