Tasting notes
The 2016 Vosne-Romanée Les Petit Monts 1er Cru has a very reduced nose with floral scents trying to escape the SO2. The palate is balanced with a sweet core of red fruit, rather sorbet-like with a chewy finish that does not quite articulate the propitious vineyard.

(13% alcohol; no frost; vinified with 50% whole clusters; tasted from cuve ): Healthy dark red. Aromas of dark cherry, menthol and crushed stone. Fleshy, fine-grained, suave wine with terrific intensity to its raspberry and blackberry fruit flavors, with harmonious acidity giving definition and a rather lacy quality to the middle palate. Tannins saturate the mouth and build slowly, but there's plenty of buffering blackberry and griottes cherry fruit and saline soil tones as well. The pH here is a relatively low 3.4.
