Score 17.5/20 · Drink 2004-2014, Jancis Robinson MW, Jun 2009

Very pale greenish gold. Light aromatic nose that I took for a Riesling when tasting inattentively. Then wonderfully substantial on the palate with a real beginning, middle and end. Juicy and honeyed with a satin texture. Long. Very complex. Waxy. Long and confident. But it fell apart slightly in the glass. (JR)

While the 1993 Laville-Haut-Brion should rival the 1992 after a few more years of cellaring, at present it is tight and lighter-bodied than the fat, robust 1992. This stylish, backward yet finesse-styled Laville-Haut-Brion exhibits aromas of spicy, honeyed fruit and toasty new oak, crisp acidity, and a rich, firmly structured personality.
