The 2022 La Ricolma is going to challenge some of all-time great vintages at San Giusto. Exotic and sumptuous, the 2022 offers up copious dark fruit, lavender, dried herbs. chocolate, and mocha. Harvest took place on September 22 and 26, late for Merlot, but not as late as the estate aims for with their pruning regime. In other words, the intense heat led San Giusto to bring in this fruit a touch early, and that paid off in spades. Readers will find a vertical, structured Ricolma for the cellar. This is vintage 2022 at its finest. I would love to own the 2022 Ricalma. It's a drop-dead gorgeous beauty. Aging was done in 500 and 225-liter barrels.
