Aromas of red berry fruit, plums and cherries mingle with notions of raw cocoa and anise, introducing the 2018 Volnay 1er Cru Sous la Chapelle, a medium to full-bodied, supple but incisive wine with tangy acids, melting tannins and a charming core of vibrant fruit. This has turned out beautifully.

The 2018 Volnay Sous La Chapelle 1er Cru comes from 15-year-old vines. It has a fragrant, quite floral bouquet, pressed rose petal and incense infusing the raspberry and crushed strawberry aromas. The oak here is very well integrated. The medium-bodied palate offers ripe, fleshy tannins and a slight chewiness on the finish. Not bad.
