Tasting notes
Score 87/100 · Drink 1997-2008, Robert Parker, Jan 1998

Typical of the vintage, Larmande's 1986 is an austere, structured wine, yet it appears to have put on weight, exhibiting slightly more fruit and fat than it did in its youth. The wine exhibits a dark ruby/purple color, and earth, mineral, smoke, and ripe berry fruit in the nose, which still needs coaxing from the glass. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, with noticeable tannin, and excellent purity and ripeness of fruit presented in a linear style. Anticipated maturity: Now-2008. Last tasted 11/97
