Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2014 tasting, the 2014 Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Capita has a crisp, very vibrant and delineated bouquet with pure red cherry, wild strawberry and orange blossom scents that unfurl in the glass. There is great terroir expression in situ. The palate is very well balanced with taut tannin, superb acidity, real drive and poise with a gorgeous, lightly spiced, elegant and graceful finish that does not shortchange you on flavor. What a wonderful Gevrey from J L Trapet. Tasted September 2017.

Light-medium red. Wonderfully scented nose combines strawberry, cherry, dried rose and earth. Very pure, silky wine with subtle sweetness and a seamless texture to its sappy fruit, spice and saline mineral flavors. Boasts a terrific combination of thickness and energy. Most impressive today on the unflagging, classically dry finish, which leaves behind a cherry perfume. Really positive use of whole clusters here.

(60% vendange entier ; from young vines in Combottes--30% of which are planted on Riparia rootstock, which Trapet says "pushes ripeness"--Corbeaux, and bits of his other premier crus): Healthy bright, dark red. Musky aromas of raspberry, cherry, underbrush and smoky oak (50% new). Juicy and penetrating, showing lovely cut and palate presence to its flavors of red fruits, spices, earth and minerals. This very vibrant wine finishes with firm but fine tannins, a lightly saline character and lovely floral lift. Suave, nicely balanced premier cru with subtle intensity.
