Glass-staining, youthful purple. Exotically perfumed aromas of blackberry and blueberry, with smoky mineral and floral oil qualities adding interest. Weighty yet precise, with vivid dark berry compote and violet pastille flavors and a suave undercurrent of tangy minerals. Finishes impressively pure, with the cassis note echoing. I searched for tannins but they seem to be completely absorbed by the lush fruit.

The other bottling may be called Terres Brûlées but this wine smells more burnt. Meaty and bloody on the nose together with burnt minerals. Just a bit too dry and charred on the end for me.  Very demanding but perhaps it will eventually soften. Dry tannins on the end.   (JR)

Bright purple. Wilder, more pungent aromas of dark berries, smoked meat and licorice, with a peppery undertone. Sweet cassis and mocha flavors coat the palate and become spicier in the glass. Showing the combination of richness and energy that it did from barrel, with mounting richness and velvety tannins. This big, brooding, chewy wine demands some bottle aging. I'd serve it with a piece of peppery grilled lamb or steak.
