Tasting notes
AP number 18 24. Riper and richer fruit aroma compared with the Schonfels, with a touch of smoky reduction, which, counterintuitively, seems to increase in the glass. Bone dry, sinewy but not lean. Long, pure, sour-salty aftertaste. Elegant wine. (JH)

The 2023 Riesling Ayler Kupp Grosses Gewächs No. 18 entices with a lifted zestiness and a lovely perfume of crushed citrus foliage and conifer. The slightly creamy palate features a bright, clean-cut vein of lemon that defines its brightness and freshness. Yet, it remains smooth, light-footed and graceful, showcasing slate finesse.
Stony, smoky, dried-peach fruit and apricot. Thrilling acidity and elegant texture. More savoury than fruit. Quietly young, yet already brimming with focus and tenacity. The vintage manages the quiet tension of the vineyard while maintaining the fruity hints of a smile. (PS)
For the Saar, this GG is quite generous, with ample, forthright stone fruit and citrus zest character. Excellent interplay of restrained richness, crisp acidity and stony character at the long, warm finish. Drink or hold.
