An assemblage from different parcels with an average vine age of 50 years. A primary selection is made at harvest then aged in 228-litre burgundy barrels (10% new) for one year. Further selection made after maturation. Mid ruby. Concentrated notes of deep, mature cherry, cassis and red plum. Quite marked by oak spice but offering great complexity and depth. Powerful, long and showing great balance between the dark, rich fruit, zesty acidity and medium to full body and ripe tannins. Refined. (MH)

The 2022 Côte de Brouilly Cuvée Zaccharie matures in Burgundy barrels with around 10% new oak. The new wood does indeed come through on the dark-chocolate-tinged bouquet, which means it doesn't quite have the character of the La Chapelle. The palate is medium-bodied with a plush, mocha-tinged entry, fleshy in mouthfeel with a sweet, licorice-laden finish. Fine, although not my pick from their portfolio this vintage, it will appeal to those who like a more hedonistic Côte de Brouilly.
