A terrifically aromatic white, Chapoutier's 2021 Condrieu Coteau de Chery—from the family's own holding there—is really floral, with some gingery spice notes as well as apricot and pineapple, crushed stone and clover honey. It's medium-bodied, which is surprising given the opulence of the aromas, with a lithe feel on the palate and a lingering finish.

A brilliant Condrieu that readers will love (although it's not distributed in the US due to its miniscule production), the 2021 Condrieu Côteau De Chery has awesome aromatics of tart apricots, honeyed peach, and tangerine to go with a medium-bodied, vibrant, focused style on the palate. I love its mid-palate depth, and it's balanced and has a great finish. It plays in the cooler style of the vintage but is pure class. Drink bottles over the coming 5-7 years.

The 2021 Condrieu Côteau de Chéry is fairly reductive at this showing. A few minutes in the glass begin to unlock ripe stone fruits paired with cedar and shy floral nuances. Medium-bodied, round and refreshing, it concludes with crisp energy on the bright finish.

Intense struck-match reduction at this stage, the florals and mandarin aromas sit underneath. Full-bodied but not massive, this has great freshness, with the characteristic Condrieu generosity. You really feel the intense salty, assertive Chéry terroir underneath. Will be excellent - a very powerful style. Aged in two- and three-year-old demi-muids.
