The 2023 finishes spicy and long, with nuanced tannins framing a wild berry concentration and hints of licorice. This is beautifully balanced for drinking now, or you could cellar it for a few years.

The 2023 Rosso Di Montalcino pours a bright red/garnet hue and is savory on the nose, with dried orange peel, dusty earth, dried cranberries, and smoke. The palate is lean to medium-bodied and chalky, with fine tannins, refreshing acidity, and a gently salty finish that gains depth as it opens. Aged three months in Slavonian oak and coming from younger vines, it’s a nicely styled Rosso for near-term drinking. Drink 2026-2029.
The Siro Pacenti 2023 Rosso di Montalcino delivers good depth despite its more straightforward fruit profile of blackcurrant and wild plum. A sweet Sangiovese note carries through the close, though vintage heat and elevated alcohol (15.5%) are clearly felt. Made from the same 50–50 blend of southern and northern fruit used for Vecchie Vigne, this wine underscores the estate’s ability to extract substance and power even at the Rosso level. This is a 15,000-bottle release.
