Score 91/100 · Drink 2025-2035, Jeb Dunnuck, Jan 2025

The 2020 Brunello Di Montalcino pours a blood red color and is ripe on the nose with notes of concentrated preserve cherries, sweet sage, mossy earth, and licorice candies. Full-bodied and earthy on the palate, with an autumnal feel to its notes of dried leaves, it has rich tannins and a savory finish. A very pretty wine with a light sanguine and gamey feel on the palate, it will be best enjoyed over the next 10 years.

The 2020 Brunello di Montalcino bursts from the glass with a vivid mix of crushed black cherries and autumnal spices elevated by minty herbs and fresh pine shavings. While soft-textured and round, this maintains a juicy personality, mixing blackberry and citrus tones under an air of violet inner florals, all elevated by stimulating acidity. The 2020 tapers off with a pleasantly bitter tinge, spicy and long, leaving hints of red plum and edgy tannins.
