2020 Barolo Rocche Rivera

With fruit from the highest part of the vineyard right under the Castiglione Falletto castle comes the Figli Luigi Oddero 2020 Barolo Scarrone Vigna Rocche Rivera. Winemaker Francesco Versio tells me he is generally a Serralunga d'Alba kind of guy, but he has been delighted and surprised by the saltiness that comes from Castiglione Falletto. The fruit is more mature in the case of this wine, perhaps a little too soft in this warm vintage. You should count on a near or medium-term window. In 2020, Scarrone was harvested on the 28th and 29th of September, before Serralunga d'Alba and La Mora. The vineyards are very steep and difficult to farm. Hot-vintage softness gives this wine a very accessible personality.
