Tasting notes
Santa Barbara Historic Vineyards Collection. 100% whole bunch, aged for 21 months in 60% new French oak. Transparent ruby. Savoury nose and that limestone freshness. Real lift. A certain salinity. Then very intense, long finish. Real vibrato. Really tingles on the end. (JR)

Fermented with 100% whole clusters, the 2022 Pinot Noir Sanford & Benedict Vineyard beautifully exudes the classy elegance of this vineyard with a red-fruited, savory nose with herbal and black tea accents. The palate shows the silky understatement of the site through a slightly more rustic lens, finishing with the earth-driven accents that tend to define this lineup. It's a lovely showing that harkens back to another era.
The 2022 Pinot Noir Sanford & Benedict Vineyard Santa Barbara Historic Vineyards Collection leads the charge with stemmy, herbaceous notes from the 50% whole clusters. The 2022 verges on vegetal and could use more fruit to balance some of its overtly green leanings. It's also slightly drying on the finish.
