Score 89-92/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Nov 2016
(from vines in the tiny Morey-Saint-Denis portion of this grand cru; still in its original single new barrel): Bright medium red. Liqueur-like raspberry, mocha and brown spices on the very ripe, slightly high-toned nose. The high-toned character follows onto the palate, which shows smoke and mocha flavors. Rather gritty oak-driven tannins give the finish a slightly bitter edge. This rather heavily extracted wine was not vinified by Marchand; in fact, he noted that the grower picked this fruit too late, on September 11.
