Tasting notes
As with the Coeur de Craie wines, this doesn’t bear a vintage on the front label but is inf act from 2019. This is a beautifully serious rosé Champagne, deep-coloured, spicy and textured. Pure Pinot Noir, the fruit comes from a single site – Premier Cru Les Bas Moutions in Rilly-la-Montagne. It is macerated for 36 hours before being bled off. The base wine is aged for 10 months in old oak. The 2019 was disgorged in March 2023, with 5g/l dosage. Blood orange, white pepper, chalk and rose florals all mingle together on this vibrant and saline wine. It’s deliciously broad and weighty on the palate, yet with pinpoint balance – with raspberry and lemon curd, as well as richer pastry tones. Long and impressive.
