Tasting notes
Ruby-red. Expressive nose offers black raspberry, coffee, minerals and sexy oak, along with a whiff of reduction. Supple and pliant, with a liqueur-like quality to the flavors of black raspberry, dark cherry, leather and sweet oak. A rather generous and open-knit "second wine" that features smoother tannins than many big-name Saint-Emilions from this vintage. Drink over the next several years.

A micro-estate of just over three acres owned by the same proprietor as Gracia, the 2006, a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, displays a deep ruby/purple-tinged color and a sweet nose of charcoal, licorice, black currants, and hints of blueberry and toasty new oak. The wine is spicy, medium-bodied, well-made, and surprisingly soft and accessible. Drink it over the next 12-15 years.
(80% merlot and 20% cabernet franc; 60% done in new oak and 40% in cuve Bright ruby-red. Sexy, Burgundian aromas of black cherry, black raspberry, dark chocolate, smoke and minerals, all lifted by sexy new oak. Lush, supple and sweet, with a sappy, liqueur-like quality to its sweet cherry fruit. Finishes with smooth tannins. Michel Gracia told me that the yield of the vines going into this wine was just 18 hectoliters per hectare in 2006.
