Score 97/100 · James Suckling, May 2024

A fabulously expressive dry riesling with a fantastic interplay of the entire spectrum of stone fruit aromas. Notes of mandarin oranges, smoke and crushed rock minerality. Sensationally elegant and deeply structured on the medium-bodied palate. From 2.2 hectares of vines ranging from 15 to more than 60 years of age. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

From a total of five different plots, including Tiefenthal and Kirrenbourg, and based only on the old vines, the 2022 Alsace Grand Cru Schlossberg Riesling is very clear, fresh and complex on the minerally intense and herbal nose with all its layers of ripe fruit, weathered granite rocks, herbs and flowers. Highly refined and elegant on the first palate, this is a full-bodied, intense and rich yet crystalline, very elegant and highly stimulating Schlossberg with fine tannins and bitters on the complex, endlessly saline and well-balanced finish. This is great, complete and touching Riesling and one of the finest Schlossbergs produced in 2022. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in April 2024.
