(a roughly 50/50 blend of cabernet franc and merlot) Good medium ruby. Pungent aromas of blackberry, minerals, licorice and flowers. Very cabernet franc in the mid-palate, with hints of bitter chocolate, fresh herbs and violet perking up the dark berry flavors. Quite fine-grained and a bit youthfully subdued, but built to age. A very floral, minerally wine from limestone-rich soil. Finishes with fine tannins and very good length. I'd wait a couple of years before pulling the cork.

This blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc displays a striking powdered rock-like component, which gives it an undeniable minerality, along with sweet red currant, black cherry, and black currant fruit notes. It is a medium-bodied, elegant, floral-styled, restrained, and measured St.-Emilion that is capable of evolving for 12-15 years.
(a 50/50 blend from 80-year-old merlot and 40-year-old cabernet franc vines) Ruby-red. Rather wild aromas of black raspberry, mocha, smoked meat and leather. Fat on entry, then broad and sweet in the middle, with a pliant texture for the vintage. This conveys a chocolatey ripeness that's almost port-like. Finishes with dusty, building, slightly drying tannins. The yield here was reportedly just 25 hectoliters per hectare, and the alcohol is 14.8%.
