For critics of super cuvées who criticize them as being just riper and oakier, it's worth noting that the 2015 Cuvee Dame Honneur du Chateau Lagrezette actually is lower in alcohol than the chateau bottling. Yes, this all-Malbec selection aged 24 months in all new French oak, but it is delicious oak—adding layers of plushness, dried spices, vanilla and cedar to the deep black cherry fruit. It's full-bodied and velvety from start to finish, lingering in a dusty wash of tannins on the finish.

Delicious ripeness on the nose and palate – open blackcurrant sweetness piles in on the start and then very quickly pulls back behind a lattice of oak-spiced tannins. Then the wine puts up a screen of tobacco leaf, damp autumnal forest-floor earthiness, sandalwood perfume. Not nearly ready. But refined. (TC)
The 2015 Lagrezette Cuvée Dame Honneur is another full-bodied, rounded, super concentrated 2015 that has an incredible amount of charm. Black raspberries, plums, toasted spice, and a touch of dried Provençal herbs all emerge from this ripe, opulent, sexy wine that has enough ripe tannin and mid-palate depth to last for 15-20 years.
Very assertive, ripe red and dark plums on the nose here. This has a powerful palate that carries bold, strapping tannins. Full-bodied, ripe and slightly chewy. Try from 2021.
