Score 87/100 · Drink 2001-2011, Robert Parker, Oct 2001

The internationally-styled, dense ruby/purple-colored 1999 Montsclapade is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot aged 18 months in new French oak and bottled unfiltered. This rustic, monolithic offering is too international in style to merit a higher score. Nevertheless, it is well-made and well-balanced. Drink it over the next decade. Not surprisingly, Dorigo's oenologist is the renowned Roberto Cipresso. Importers: Livio Panebianco, New York, NY; tel. (212) 685-7560
