Score 91/100 · Drink 2017-2026, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, May 2017

Poggio Landi is a new project in Montalcino owned by businessman Alejandro Bulgheroni from Argentina. The 2012 Brunello di Montalcino opens to a slightly darker color and thicker textural fiber. The vineyards are located in the Torrenieri sub zone of the appellation that has thicker clay soils. It usually results in more robust expressions of Sangiovese. This wine offers dark cherry aromas with spice, cured meat and moist chewing tobacco. The tannins are a bit softer and the wine offers a flesh, succulent consistency. I look forward to following the progression of this estate in the future.
