Score 84/100 · Drink 2021, Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous, Oct 2021

The 2019 Chinon Gabare is a little animally and leathery on the nose, suggestive of brett and drying the palate. That’s a pity because there's nice, concentrated fruit underneath, and good flesh. The team at Grosbois tried using mineral sulfur in the winery for this cuvée in this vintage, and they think that might have been the reason for the spoilage.
