Barrel sample. Light crimson. Very pretty aroma – red cherry and a touch herbal. Gently but deliciously fragrant. Firmer and drier on the palate than I expected from the nose, almost a little chalky in texture, but just right for the depth of fruit. Savoury, dry but not drying finish. Needs more time, as do all the wines that had a small percentage of stems (20% in all the Chambolle wines, apparently). (JH)
