Tasting notes
From Bouchard's 45 ares of domaine holdings, the 2019 Volnay 1er Cru Les Taillepieds wafts from the glass with notes of cassis, plums, raw cocoa, woodsmoke and warm spices. Medium to full-bodied, elegantly muscular and concentrated, it's structured around supple, powdery tannins and lively acids. This is very promising.

The 2019 Volnay Taillepieds 1er Cru has a rich, opulent bouquet of kirsch and orange peel plus touches of crème de cassis. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannins, and quite minerally with that limestone coming through on the finish, but I find this a bit opaque and missing a bit of joie-de-vivre .
