Tasting notes
Bright dark red. Pure but subdued nose hints at very ripe dark berries and spicy oak. At once dense and juicy, with penetrating dark berry flavors lifted by spice oils and white pepper. Finishes with a strong tannic spine and excellent spicy lift. Today the 2014 version appears to have more depth of fruit to support its oak element, but this wine avoids dryness.

The 2013 Echézeaux du Dessus is fabulous, especially in the way it brings together the seductiveness of Echézeaux with the cool, mineral-inflected freshness that makes this vintage so appealing. Layers of flavor build to a crescendo of striking beauty as this wonderfully complete Burgundy shows off its pedigree. There is so much to like here.
