The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Farella Vineyard is a very pretty wine from Realm's earlier days. Medium in body, savory and expressive, the 2010 is in a beautiful spot right now. Although not terribly deep, the 2010 captures the essence of this Coombsville site nicely. Grilled herbs, dark cherry, cedar, tobacco, licorice, leather and tar add lovely shades of complexity. I would prefer to drink the 2010 over the next few years, as it has started to fade.

From a higher elevation, the cooler Coombsville site, the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Farella reveals dusty, loamy soil, red and black currant, leafy tobacco, spice box and cedar notes. Rich and medium to full-bodied, this excellent Cabernet should drink well for 12-15 years. Tel. (707) 967-0227
The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Farella Vineyard is fresh, perfumed and totally beautiful. Tobacco, freshly cut flowers and sweet red berries take shape in the glass. The Farella is unquestionably gorgeous, but this site doesn't have the pure pedigree of the other single-vineyard wines in the range. The cool energy of Coombsville comes through on the focused, delineated finish. A dollop of Petit Verdot rounds out the blend.
