Tasting notes
Tasted from magnum, the Federico Graziani 2019 Riesling AG47 is an aspirational and romantic wine from a young vintner anxious to pull out new flavors from this mighty Sicilian volcano. Federico tells me that 2019 was an extraordinary vintage for white wines, even better than the reds made on the volcano. He only made two tonneaux of this very small production. The original idea was to maintain some residual sugar, but the wine went dry. There are aromas of pastry cream, crème brûlée and poached pear. He tells me that the flavor profile reminds him of silver on the periodic table, and although I'm not entire sure what he means, I admire the descriptor.

Mix of Sicilian and Alsace varieties. Like an especially funky answer to Marcel Deiss of Alsace, who refuses to put grape varieties on the label . Tart, rather hard end. (JR)
