Tasting notes
The 2018 Morellino di Scansano Riserva is gracious, elegant and impeccably balanced. Silky tannins wrap around a core of dark red Sangiovese fruit, with hints of licorice, spice and leather that play supporting roles. The Riserva is deep, but not at all heavy.

Full bottle 1,117 g. Sangiovese, Merlot, Syrah. Woodsy, earthy, cherry, tobacco-scented wine with cheeky little tannins that swarm the fruit like an army of Lilliputians tying down Gulliver. There is a tucked-in chew on this wine that gives it a sort of gymnastic, springy, energy-packed strength but the fruit, crisp, cool, defined, almost tarty just floods the palate with unrestrained deliciousness. This is Italian in every sense, from its expressiveness and liveliness to the dried herbs and no-nonsense, palate-whetting acidity. VGV! (TC)
The 2018 Morellino di Scansano packs a serious punch. Super-ripe black cherry, chocolate, cloves, menthol, licorice and leather are all amped up here. Flamboyant and full-throttle to the core, the just-bottled 2018 is not subtle, but it sure packs tons of flavor.
