Cascina Luisin's 2013 Barbaresco Paolin is an attractive wine to drink now and over the next few years. As always, the Paolin is the most forward and fruity of the Luisin Barbarescos, but the 2013 also shows the pedigree of the vintage in its layered, highly expressive feel. Sweet floral notes, cedar, mint and tobacco add lovely aromatic intensity to a core of sweet red berry fruit. This accessible, inviting Barbaresco will drink well for at least a handful of years.

Neive. Maturing ruby with narrow orange rim. Candied, oaky and already beginning to show some premox. Very sweet and minty and very little else. (WS)
