2017 Nuits St Georges Les Damodes

The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Damodes 1er Cru has a more earthy bouquet than its peers, well-defined but needing more coaxing from the glass. Touches of potpourri and rose petal emerge with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple but firm tannins, revealing layers of black cherry, black currant and cranberry fruit laced with white pepper and Chinese five-spice. Quite linear toward the finish. This is a fine Nuits Saint-Georges that should age well in bottle. (NM)
