Tasting notes
Full bottle 1,366 g. Ironically, even though the alcohol is higher than Clos du Pic, the wine is fresher and much more balanced. It's a huge wine with Amarone-like richness, Christmas spices, cherry-pie sweetness, Christmas-cake density, and dark, smouldering-velvet tannins. Almost overwhelming concentration, but somehow Puech-Haut have carried it off. Sip with care. (TC)

Full bottle 1,648 g. Rich, oaky and buttery. Redolent with curry spices: fenugreek, cumin, turmeric, fennel. Ripe bananas, butterscotch and ghee. Lavish, opulent and unashamedly exaggerated. Very like an old-fashioned Australian Chardonnay! OTT, a little bit of a caricature of an oaked wine and will appeal to a limited audience but it is complex and has genuine length. I do think PH could dial back on the oak, though. (TC)
