Tasting notes
The 2019 Chablis Les Blanchots La Réserve de l'Obédience Grand Cru shows some tropical scents on the nose: peach skin and light linden scents, something almost Condrieu-like. The palate is well balanced with a sapid entry, quite limey. The back end lacks some tension and complexity, leaving you wanting more. I was blown away by this wine just after bottling. An errant bottle? I leave a question mark against my score. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

The 2019 Chablis Les Blanchots La Réserve de l’Obédience Grand Cru has a lovely, beautifully defined nose featuring white peaches, black currant leaf, citrus peel and flecks of shaved almonds, all very complex and refined. The taut, fresh palate is well balanced with an uncompromising saline entry and fine acidity. This needs a little more complexity and matière on the back end, but otherwise it is very impressive.
With time, I suspect the 2019 Chablis Grand Cru Blanchots La Réserve de l'Obédience will outdistance even the 2017 vintage. Unwinding in the glass with aromas of blanched almonds, orange oil, iodine, citrus blossom and crisp stone fruit, it's full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with a seamless, complete profile and a long, saline finish. This is a terrific effort.
