Tasting notes
The 2022 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru Très Vieilles Vignes is terrific, unwinding in the glass with notes of cherries and dark berries mingled with notions of licorice, violets, rose petals and spices. Full-bodied, deep and layered, it's concentrated and multidimensional, with the most body and incipient complexity of any wine in the range, concluding with a long, expansive finish.

The 2022 Charmes-Chambertin Très Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru clearly has the most intense bouquet, with hints of black cherry, briar, boysenberry and blood orange. The palate is structured and powerful. The new oak (100%) is a little more evident compared to Roty's other Grand Crus, and at the moment, this defines the dark chocolate-tinged finish. Patience will certainly be required.
