Bright, deep red. Black raspberry, menthol, brown spices and minerals on the nose. Thick and deep for the vintage but with excellent energy to the dark berry and smoky, stony mineral flavors. Impressively broad and fat wine with a fine dusting of tannins and superb persistence. This wine's tight core of energetic fruit and very firm acidity call for a minimum of five or six years of bottle age.
Bright red-ruby. Reticent but very pure aromas of raspberry, dark cherry, crushed stone, licorice and rose petal. Like liquid silk in the mouth, but with superb energy and a powerful spine of minerally acidity giving grip and force to the blackberry and blueberry flavors. Fully ripe but sappy and not at all over the top. Very long on the aftertaste. This has a relatively low pH of 3.45, compared to 3.7 for the same wine in 2007.
