Tasting notes
This wine reveals a terrific vintage's jammy, low acid, exotic, flamboyant character. It possesses considerable tannin, but its ostentatious personality is overwhelming. The 1997 Barolo Bussia Vigna Fiurin is extremely dense and powerful. There is some noticeable new oak, but the wine's overwhelming level of richness, glycerin, alcohol, and tannin leaves a hefty impression on the palate. Remarkably, this monster Barolo has no hard edges. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2025. A Marc de Grazia Selection, various American importers, including Michael Skurnik, Syosset, NY; tel. Deep ruby-red. Bright, lively aroma of black fruits, espresso and chocolate. Lush and sweet, with bright acidity for the vintage. Quite powerfully built, with a firm tannic spine. Finishes with excellent grip and outstanding persistence.
