The 2023 Chambolle-Musigny La Combe d’Orveau is very perfumed and floral on the nose, featuring red berry fruit, touches of cola and brown spices. It is harmonious with beautifully integrated oak. This has more joie-de-vivre than an early Spice Girls' number-one hit. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet, slightly candied entry, orange pith infusing the red fruit and hints of Szechuan peppers. It's quite lithe and focused toward the finish. I can imagine this drinking young, but it has the balance and substance to reward cellaring. This is excellent.

More crimson than ruby with a soft but quite deep strawberry fruit. I love the way the fruit builds on the palate, again finishing on a saline note. A little note from the oak but lightly salted red fruit remains the dominant feature. Drink from 2027-2033. Tasted Nov 2024.

From a cool, elevated climat. Cask sample. Bright mid ruby. Rounded, sweet Pinot fruit, with a red-fruited nose of red cherry and raspberry. Soft, integrated, powdery tannins. Lovely balance and already very seductive and open. There is volume here, but clothed in diaphanous tannins with excellent freshness and elegance. (MH)
