Serious wine! Ambitious and sinewy. Definitely worthy of your attention! Still embryonic but Paul Krug has imbued this with real energy. A name to watch, though maybe wait until they are settled in the new Pommard premises. (JR)

The 2023 Pommard Clos de la Commaraine 1er Cru has a clean, precise bouquet with dark berry fruit, undergrowth and light pencil box scents. This is detailed and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth opening, as hints of dark chocolate and mocha infuse the black fruit. There is a little oak to be assimilated, but the 2023 displays fine depth as a dash of black pepper enhances the finish. Give this two or three years in bottle.
