Tasting notes
The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets unwinds in the glass with aromas of peach, yellow orchard fruit and orange oil mingled with white flowers and nutmeg. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, with racy acids and a dense, chalky palate, it concludes with a long, saline finish. This is another terrific wine in a very consistent 2023 portfolio from Sébastian Caillat.

Tank sample. Mid lemon. Apple, pear, white flowers, citrus. Mature but not overripe fruit. Mouth-watering, lively acidity. There is substantial weight and concentration, with a chalky, mealy texture. Real zest and drive on the finish. (MH)
The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Caillerets 1er Cru has the most detailed, exquisite bouquet amongst Caillat's 2023, with hints of praline and honeysuckle, wonderful delineation and focus. The palate is beautifully balanced, taut and fresh with a killer line of acidity, lovely sapidity and a touch of grilled walnut toward the finish. This could be Sébastien Caillat's peak this vintage.
