This is also quite smoky with its overtly floral array of mostly white orchard fruit and discreet citrus nuances. The vibrant and seductively textured flavors are not particularly dense though I do like the caressing but punchy mouthfeel of the balanced finale. This too could use more depth so at least a few years of forbearance would be a good idea. Drink: 2028+

The 2023 Saint-Aubin Les Castets 1er Cru comes from two south-facing parcels of younger vines, usually the first harvested in the appellation. It is a little richer on the nose than the domain's other cuvées, with hints of tropical fruit initially, although these ebb away with aeration to reveal more of its terroir. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity and a creamy texture with dried honey, ginger and nectarine notes. Very composed and lace-like on the finish, this is a wine that will be difficult to resist in its youth.
