Tasting notes
The 2023 Musigny Grand Cru is also quite demonstrative out of the gates this year, offering up a deep and lavish bouquet of ripe berries, confit orange, exotic spices, violets and smoke. Full-bodied, rich and layered, it's sumptuous and pillowy, with an enveloping core of fruit, sweet tannins and a long, resonant finish.

Cask sample. Mid ruby. Great nose! Spice, floral notes and red fruit. Quite a contrast to Roumier’s – this is more lifted and floral. Seamless tannins, fine, satin texture. Acidity, just an impression. Lot of spice on the long, broad finish. (MH)
The 2023 Musigny Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru is definitely a cut above both the Les Amoureuses and the Bonnes-Mares. It has great fruit concentration and complexity, with cranberry, wild strawberry, sous-bois and light loamy scents. The palate is medium-bodied, fresh and open with chalky tannins. It's quite peppery toward the finish, with just a slight herbaceousness on the aftertaste. I am hoping that I caught this Musigny on an off-day.
