2023 Gevrey Chambertin Champeaux

The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Champeaux 1er Cru, which now sees no new oak, has an open and quite generous bouquet, though it needs a little more focus. It is quite pure and floral in style. The palate is well balanced with plush red cherry, crushed strawberry fruit and fine tannins, becoming more compact toward the finish. It doesn't quite manage to achieve the fluidity of some of Magnien's best cuvées, but let's see how it shows with bottle age.
