Tasting notes
The 2023 Chablis Le Bas de Chapelot Vignes Hautes derives from the same site as the regular cuvée, but for this bottling, Vocorets has isolated 0.05 hectares (12 rows, to be precise) and increased the canopy height to two meters to offer more shade to the grapes and soil. Edouard explains that as a result, this small parcel ripens earlier than the rest of the vineyard. Opening in the glass to reveal notes of green apple, iodine and beeswax, framed by a light reduction, it’s an elegant wine with a tauter personality, a medium to full-bodied palate and a long, mineral finish.

Big and mouth-filling. With a fine edge of crystalline structure. Very long and GV . (JR)
The 2023 Chablis Le Bas de Chapelot is similar to the Les Pargues aromatically, perhaps just a little more yellow fruit evident here. Fine delineation. The palate is where the real difference lies - much more weight and density, a honeyed tincture but that does not occlude the terroir expression or mineralité on the finish. This is a Chablis that wears its heart on its sleeve.
