Note: from a .32 ha parcel of vines just below those of Château de la Tour in the lower middle of the slope; 80% whole cluster. An explosively floral-suffused nose picks up soil tones and the ultra-fresh essence of red currant. The caressing but decidedly punchy and well-detailed medium weight flavors flash solid power on the youthfully austere and impressively persistent finish that also exhibits a hint of bitter pit fruit character. Good stuff that should age well.

The 2023 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru includes around 40% whole bunch, as the bunches were larger this year. Boasting wonderful delineation and precision, it has a lifted bouquet with dark berry fruit, hints of brown spices and blackcurrant leaf. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins. Linear, focused and tensile from start to finish, there is a touch of piquancy toward the finish. Outstanding.(NM)

The 2023 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is round and charming, exhibiting aromas of plums, sweet red berries, orange and cinnamon, followed by a medium to full-bodied, supple and fleshy palate. This grand cru may have the reputation for structure and austerity, but this particular wine wears its heart on its sleeve.

30% whole clusters. Cask sample. Mid-pale ruby. Quite concentrated red cherry and strawberry fruit. Restrained with barely remarkable moderate acidity and fine, powdery tannins. Very fine, elegant and above all, restrained. Long finish. (MH)
