Smells like playground fruit juice! Tastes of pecans and strawberry juice. Almost crazy simple and yet it’s not. Tannins like curly brackets and well-brewed tea. Something a little wild? It has a certain tang, but unlike the Bize Vergelesses, no sign of hamsters here. (TC)

The 2023 Savigny-lès-Beaune Aux Fournaux 1er Cru has a crisp and precise bouquet with fine mineralité . Like a few of Bize's reds this year it is quite understated, but gradually finds its voice. The palate is well balanced and detailed, shaped by its stems with touches of black pepper and Japanese nori on the finish. Delightful.
